The Bible We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inerrant, inspired, and infallible Word of God. God’s Word is the final authority for faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Isa. 55:10-11; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psa. 19:7-11)
The One True God
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Eph 4:4-6)
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the Son of God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, healed the sick, performed miracles, died and shed His blood on the cross, suffered the penalty for people’s sins, resurrected from the dead, ascended to heaven to the right hand of the Father and will return to earth in His full power and glory. (Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, that He is God Himself, co-eternal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit was sent to fulfill the promise of the Father, for the washing and regeneration of believers; that He might abide in and with, and empower believers to be witnesses unto Christ, and that He might lead and guide the church into all truth. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is at work in the present age of the church, with all the manifestations and gifts distributed by Him according to the Scriptures. (Gen. 1:2; Jn. 4:24; Acts 5:3, 4; Mk. 3:29 Acts 1:4, 8; I Pet. 1:12; Titus 3:5; Jn. 14:16; Jn. 16:13; Acts 2:4; 10:45, 46, 19:6; I Cor. 14:2, 4, 14, 18, 21, 12:1-11)
Humanity
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God but through Adam’s sin the whole race fell, became alienated from God, inherited a sin nature, and that every person is born in sin, and is utterly helpless to remedy their lost condition apart from the grace of God. (Gen. 1:25-27; Rom. 3:22-23; 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3, 12).
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to sinful man by grace and received solely by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who accomplished complete redemption by His substitutionary death and shedding of His precious blood (Jn. 3:16-18; Gal. 2:16; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; I Pet. 1:18-19).
Return of the Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven to this earth in power and glory, and that He will receive His bride, His elect, unto Himself, that He will judge the living and the dead, and that He will establish the everlasting Kingdom of God upon the earth (Acts 1:11; Mt. 24:30, 31; Eph. 5:27; II Cor. 11:2; Rev. 5:20; Dan. 7:14; II Tim. 4:1; Rm. 14:10).
Water Baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, The Lord Jesus Christ, identifying and uniting the believer with Christ’s own death, burial and resurrection. Saved by grace through faith in Christ, the believer is baptized; publicly proclaiming and displaying that they have been crucified with Christ, buried the old man, a spiritual circumcision of the heart is performed, which is a token of our covenant with God, and we are raised out of those waters to walk in the newness of life as new creatures in Christ, having been born again, all through faith in the operation or working of God. (Mt. 28:19; Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; John 3:5; Rom. 6:5 II Cor. 5:17; Col. 2:11, 12; Deut. 10:16; Ezek. 36:26; Ezek. 11:19).
The Lord’s Supper
We believe in the Lord’s Supper, that is for believers. It is a special time of communion of a believer in the presence of God when the elements of bread and wine, representing the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We take this in remembrance of a crucified Jesus, a loving Jesus, and a glorious return of our Savior. (Mt. 26:26-29; Mk. 14:22-25; Lk. 22:19, 20; Jn. 6:48-58; I Cor. 10:16).
The Church
We believe the church is composed of all those who have made a personal decision of faith in Jesus Christ and are therefore saved and enter into God’s family. Through Salvation by the sacrifice of Christ, we are united together in the Body of Christ. Jesus is the Lord and Head of the church. (John 3:3-6; 1 Cor. 12:27; Eph. 4:11-15; Heb. 10:25)
Marriage
We believe Marriage has been ordained by God. This church defines “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one biological man and one biological woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment. A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in these Articles. (Gen. 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6, Hebrews 13:4)
Human Sexuality
We believe that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities outside of marriage including but not limited to, adultery, premarital sex, homosexuality, and pedophilia are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church. Further, lascivious conduct, transgender behavior, and the creation and/or distribution and/or viewing of pornography are incompatible with the biblical witness. (Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:3).
Authority of This Statement of Faith
This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Statement of Faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible, and therefore is binding upon all members, employees and guests.
